China Glaze ‘Sexy in the City’

The camera didn’t quite capture this colour correctly. It’s a gorgeous deep blue but it has hints of teal and, I think, a little metallic.

As always with China Glaze, it goes on smooth and dries quickly. I used two coats and that was perfect coverage, though I skipped on a top coat because it was late and it wore off the tips very easily, requiring another on top.

It’s definitely an amazing colour though and I would recommend that everyone get it.

On Fridays I hit up Winners which is near the bank I do some work stuff at. They have such random nail polishes. Like one day they’ll have ONE bottle from a collection and then weeks later they’ll have another, different colour from the same collection.

This week they had Ruby Red Pumps by China Glaze, which a friend has been telling me I need forever.I find China Glaze relatively hard to find in Canada so I snapped that up.

I loved it immediately. This is three coats because I wanted it nice and dark. It dried quickly so it was no problem to put on an extra coat. It wasn’t as smooth as I wanted it to be so I immediately put two coats of a clear top coat on top. But I absolutely adore this colour and prefer the China Glaze to the Orly dupe so I imagine I will be wearing this one a lot.

Orly’s ‘Star Spangled’ is a complete duplicate of China Glaze’s ‘Ruby Pumps’. Or vice versa. Good thing I only have the Orly colour in a .18oz bottle.

An attempt at Easter nails. Turned out a little messy and, like with all pastels, shows nicks and scratches super easily. And my cuticles are terrible today. I haven’t been giving them enough attention, clearly.

Pink: China Glaze ‘Innocence’
White: China Glaze ‘White on White’
Green: OPI ‘Gargantuan Green Grape’
Purple: Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear ‘Lacey Lilac’
Orange: Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear ‘Sun Kissed’
Yellow: Wet n Wild ‘The Wonder Yellows’

It’s seriously messy so it’s not exactly what I wanted but I’m pleased enough with it. I had to take it off and repaint the orange on one or two nails quickly, which resulted in some frustrating bubbles.

Once Upon a Time inspired manicure - Prince Charming.

Blue is OPI’s ‘I Don’t Give a Rotterdam’ from the Holland Collection and the gold is China Glaze ‘Blonde Bombshell’ from the Eye Candy collection.

This one is a little late and the picture is crap but I’ve been wearing this manicure for about six days and I figured I better take a shot of it before it chipped.

The OPI goes on beautifully and has a beautiful almost silver shimmer to it, keeping it from being a flat creme colour. This is two coats and it hasn’t chipped once. Likewise, the China Glaze is great as well. This one wasn’t as rough as the ‘Some Like it Haute’ from the same collection a few weeks ago and because of all the glitter it says on remarkably well, keeping the tips from chipping.

Honestly, this collection reminds me of China Glaze’s Eye Candy collection from winter 2011, only these glitters are the pastel cousins of the glitters from Eye Candy. But if Prismatic is anything like Eye Candy, we’re all in for a treat!

Ray-Diant and Polarized are the ones I absolutely must try; I love how the colorful glitter stands out! The zoomed in photos of Prism and Full Spectrum look so cute, too! Are there any Prismatic glitters you’re planning to buy, based only on this press release?

GET ON MY FINGERS. This reminds me of the Eye Candy line too, which is fine because I LOVED that line and based on those ones would definitely buy all these ones.

OPI ‘Teenage Dream’

I love this colour. I’ve worn it before over a white base but this is just on mostly bare nails. It goes on easy, doesn’t chip for days and I love the sheer pink and the holographic sparkles. This is one of my favourite polishes, for sure.

Orly ‘Le Chateau’

I am not a fan of this colour. I wore it one day and took it off. I find Orly polishes rather annoying in general, actually. They scratch and mark easily, even when completely dry, and they stain my nails for days no matter how much remover I use. I didn’t wait long enough between coats and it bubbled too, which probably added to my discontent.

Plus I did not like the colour. It was way too dark, almost black but one coat which would make it a nice dark teal didn’t give accurate coverage.

Pink: OPI’s ‘Pedal Faster Suzi!’
Gold: China Glaze’s ‘Blonde Bombshell’

A little messy on my middle nail but it turned out nice on the others. Unlike the other 3D Eye Candy colour I wore last week, this one is not nearly as rough.

OPI’s ‘Pedal Faster Suzi!’ from the Holland Collection.

Great colour. It’s a cute pink with a shimmer-sparkle to it. It feels very girly and two coats gave some great coverage. I’ve loved every colour I’ve gotten from the Holland Collection so far so I suspect I might be picking some new ones up soon.

OPI’s ‘Wooden Shoe Like to Know’

One of my messier jobs and I’m a little annoyed that I had to cut my nails so short yesterday. :S

Base coat: Sally Hansen Diamond Strength Hardener
Top Coat: OPI Top Coat

On Fridays I buy nail polish.

It’s become a bit of a habit. I only meant to buy one OPI from the Holland collection but Trade Secrets had a buy one get one half price thing so I ended up with ‘Grow Up Already’ and a silver shatter (both OPI), then I headed over to Winners and found that they had one gold glitter polish from the Eye Candy 3D collection. I loved the one I got last week so I got this one. I’ve gotten three gold glitters and a gold creme in the last few weeks. Obsession much?

Then when I got home, my white and black Konad polishes came in the mail and ‘Wooden Shoe Like to Know’ and ‘Pedal Faster Suzi!’ from the OPI Holland collection were in there too. I totally forgot that I ordered those two.

So tonight is going to be spent playing with stamps. YAY!

Once Upon a Time inspired nails again. This one is based on the Evil Queen’s black outfit with red feathers in the pilot.
